Fiji Weddings

May 10th, 2011

Fiji would have to be my favourite place to travel to for a Destination Wedding. The people are so incredibly friendly and life seems at such an easy pace there, it is impossible not to relax. There are so many options for Fiji weddings but it is a great idea to incorporate a wedding planner who has the knowledge of the country and the options for a wedding in a resort or a local church. Beach weddings are really popular although my clients Lauren & John were married at the Intercontinental Hotel in the beautiful little chapel. The slightly overcast skies gave us very dramatic photography on the beach.

Wedding Albums

Traditional or Modern Wedding Albums?

When you spend a lot of money on professional wedding portraits, you want to have pictures you’re proud to display and you want to display them beautifully. There are some great choices in modern wedding albums and layout styles to choose from. Whether you’re having a traditional wedding or something more modern, you can have your portraits taken and then displayed in a way that you want.

Many brides spend hours looking through website galleries with pictures of wedding portraits and layouts to get ideas for their own wedding album. That’s one of the benefits of living in the information age. You can shop for both your wedding photographer and have great ideas for your photos well in advance of the big day.

Digital magazine style albums allow more possibilities for creativity

Digital magazine style albums allow more possibilities for creativity

Many traditional wedding album styles have slipped into yesteryear. Not long ago, there was a popular custom that involved placing photos in albums covered in white satin with lace and ribbons.  While these were pretty to look at right after the wedding, they’re not exactly easy to keep looking gorgeous. When you have an album full of your wedding day memories, you want to be able to share them without damaging the photos or the album and you want to know that the album is going to work well at preserving your prized photographs for the future. Digital magazine style albums are the most popular choice for wedding albums in this day and age.

Pictures do last a long time but have you seen old photos that turn yellow and fade? By preserving your portraits carefully, they’ll be beautiful and crisp-looking for many years to come and you’ll probably have copies of the pictures on disc so that you can make additional copies as and when you need them.Modern Wedding Albums

Today, there are gorgeous design options available for putting your wedding album together. Some of your portraits might be in colour, some in black and white, and some in sepia. Some are done and professionally polished to look like photojournalism portraits that could easily fit into a magazine.

When choosing your wedding photographer, it’s important to review their portfolio to see if they offer the style you’re looking for. Most professionals have a signature style that they’re proud to display but they should be adaptable so that the can take and display your photos in a way that you want, whether it’s modern, traditional, or a unique style all your own.

Digital wedding albums allow for more creativity

Clean classic design allows the photos to be the focus

Today’s technology makes it very easy for you to see your photos before they’re printed and make changes if everything isn’t absolutely perfect. You can have an array of different photos for your home, for your Thank You cards, and for your wedding album and you can even set up an online gallery to share those photos with your friends and loved ones.

Album design services that provide traditional or modern wedding albums are often a service offered by professional wedding photographers. Instead of simply having your pictures given to you in an envelope, they can be prepared in a way that allows you to proudly share and display them while also knowing that they are going to be preserved so that they can be shown to your grandchildren and continue to look as gorgeous as they do when you first have them delivered to you.

Hunter Valley wedding

May 9th, 2011

Rachel & Keith held an intimate and classy wedding at Bistro Molines in the Hunter Valley. The view from Molines is spectacular, matched only with the exceptional food the restaurant is renowned for. Wedding Planner Chelsea Hall from Chelsea Jayne Weddings did an exceptional job by organising Rachel & Keith’s special day in a limited amount of time. The great thing about Hunter Valley weddings is whichever road you drive down you usually find a great photo opportunity. Wedding photography locations in the Hunter are plentiful but knowing where light is best on any given day is really important.

Rustic Country Wedding

May 8th, 2011

I love photographing for friends, but it’s always a little stressful as you want to do amazing work ! Kate & Ben were married at Kate’s family winery in Mudgee. The weather was ordinary but the loved flowed, and that’s the most important part of any wedding. A country wedding is usually so relaxed and the environment really  lends itself to interesting photography around the rural backdrop. The bride wore Vera Wang… and gumboots during the jaunt into the vines !

Thailand Island Wedding

May 8th, 2011

I recently travelled to Koh Samui to photography a beautiful Thailand Wedding. Destination weddings are a fantastic experience and worth all the travel time and planning. Louise and Ian were married at a stunning private villa in Koh Samui, where beach weddings are really popular.  The Thai people are such great hosts and we were able to visit a local temple where we shot some portraits and absorbed the local culture.

Sherri & Cliff at Jonah’s

April 18th, 2011

I was completely blown away by the hospitality of my clients Sherri & Cliff during their Jewish wedding at Jonah’s on a beautiful afternoon in March.  They were very kind and attentive to myself and all the fabulous staff  at Jonah’s on the day. We were very lucky with the weather and had a light cloud cover which gave the photos a very soft feel, and of course the magnificent view over Whale Beach never fails to disappoint. Jonah’s is one of the most beautiful locations for a Northern Beaches wedding.

Wedding Dresses – Tips for Choosing the Perfect Gown

November 28th, 2010

Most women agree that they want their wedding dress to make them feel like a princess on their big day. Choosing a dress for your wedding day is a personal choice but it’s one that shouldn’t be made lightly. Regardless of your taste, choosing a dress that suits your style and the tone of the occasion is something you’ll want to take your time doing. There’s a lot to think about!

Your Mother’s Wedding Gown
A lot of women save their wedding dress for their daughter’s big day. If your Mother has done this, this might leave you feeling pressured to use it. Don’t be afraid to decline it. Not all styles are classic enough to be worn decades later and not all styles fit your style. You might choose to use the fabric (if your Mother doesn’t object to having her dress altered) to have a dress made or you might save the dress to make into a christening gown for your own child. For that matter, you might choose to save the dress anyway, even if you don’t plan on wearing it, because of the symbolism and sentiment.

Should You Wear White?
Whether or not you choose to wear white is also a personal decision, depending on many factors. Many women now choose to wear white for a second marriage and / or choose a different coloured wedding dress for their first wedding. It’s a personal choice that only you can make.

Some women cannot imagine wearing anything but a long, white, flowing gown and others have other plans for how the want to look when they’re married. There are varying shades of white, too. You may not believe it now but as you rummage through racks and racks of wedding gowns, you’ll start to see that there are varying shades of white and that the fabric of the dress makes an impact on the look, feel, and comfort level as well.

What about the Style?
When imagining your dream wedding, some women love puffy sleeves and other women see themselves in a strapless dress. Whether you have a full train, a bustle, or both is entirely up to you. Thankfully, you’ll find online galleries and countless magazines filled with photographs of dress designs. You can also find bridal shows to attend to help you as well as boutiques that will take the time to show you bridal gowns as well as accessories and bridal party attire as well

Think of the Venue
If you’re having a destination wedding at a resort or on a beach somewhere, you might have less formal wedding attire in mind for the big day. You might choose to wear a flowing white dress in either case; the choice is all yours.

Think of the Season
Deciding whether to wear something backless or not and deciding on fabric may be impacted by when you plan to have the wedding. You’ll want to think about the type of shoe you choose and whether or not you’ll need a shawl for being outdoors. A fall wedding is breathtakingly beautiful and there’s a definite charm in a winter wedding as well. Season also impacts pricing. Those looking for a budget-conscious wedding might find that buying the wedding dress at the end of the season for the following year can save some money. June weddings are popular in North America because that’s when it’s Spring there but of course Australia’s most popular wedding months tend to be October through December.

Think of the Photographs
Finally, when planning your wedding and your wedding attire, think of the wedding photography. When planning your wedding, consider the fact that the photographs are going to be prominently placed in your home so consider the fact that trends may not last forever and a classic look is more likely to still make you smile (rather than giggle at your own expense) twenty five years from now.

Wendy & Alex

September 29th, 2010
Wendy & Alex’s wedding in the Rocks was a lovely and relaxed affair with the bride and groom spending around an hour wandering through the streets and lanes, posing for photos and stopping at the old pubs for a quick drink on the way. As far as wedding photography locations in Sydney go, the Rocks offer fantastic possibilities with loads of atmosphere. The evening was completed at the impressive Quay restaurant where the wedding party wined and dined to magnificent views of Sydney Harbour.

Katharina & Stefan …. all the way from Austria !

February 3rd, 2010

I was delighted when Katharina and Stefan contacted me from Austraia asking if I would photograph their wedding on Shelley Beach. What an honour ! I met Katharina briefly before the ceremony and photographed her and her mum Cornelia. The afternoon was perfect…….warm with a light breeze off the ocean. Katharina and Stefan have the typical (in my experience) European quality of being naturally charming and also very accommodating to all who were involved in their brief but beautiful ceremony on the cliffs of Shelly Beach.  Please enjoy their photos.  Kristjan
